If you’re a proud owner of a Fire Stick, Fire TV, or Fire TV-powered smart TV, you’re well aware of the impressive capabilities of the Fire TV platform. Among its many features, customizations, and vast library of movies and TV shows, one of the Fire Stick’s more understated abilities is called private listening.
Roku was the pioneer in introducing this convenient Bluetooth feature to streaming devices, and now you can enjoy it on Fire TV hardware as well. Here’s a simplified guide to connect a pair of Bluetooth headphones or earbuds to your Fire TV device in just a few steps:
Connecting Wireless Headphones to Fire TV
1. Begin by putting your headphones into pairing mode.
2. Grab your Fire Stick remote and navigate to
Settings > Controllers & Bluetooth Devices > Other Bluetooth Devices
.3. Your headphones should appear in the device queue. Use the remote to select them and press
Pair
.4. Within moments, your wireless headphones or earbuds should be successfully connected to your Fire TV device.
You can also unpair your headphones by following the same steps. Once you select your headphones, simply press the
Unpair
button on your remote to complete the process.Using an Alexa Remote
If you’re fortunate enough to own a Fire TV device that comes equipped with the Alexa Voice Remote or the Alexa Voice Remote Pro, you can expedite the headphone-pairing process using voice commands.
– For Voice Remote Pro: Press the microphone button and say, “Pair Bluetooth headphones.”
– For standard Voice Remote: Press the microphone button. You’ll be directed to the Bluetooth settings screen on your Fire TV. Once your headphones are in pairing mode, highlight them and press

.Wired Headphones Solution
Amazon doesn’t offer a version of the Fire TV remote with a built-in headphone jack. While this may seem like a limitation, there’s a clever workaround. However, you’ll need some additional equipment, namely a TV, AV receiver, or soundbar with analog audio outputs.
If your wired headphones have a standard 3.5mm connection, invest in an RCA to 3.5mm adapter. Connect the RCA male ends to the left and right audio outputs on your TV, AV receiver, or soundbar, and then plug your headphones into the 3.5mm end. This setup effectively designates your TV, AV receiver, or soundbar as the primary audio output device. As long as your Fire TV device is connected to one of these components, you’ll be able to listen to audio through your wired headset.
