Conor McGregor’s highly anticipated return to the UFC will be delayed until 2024, according to UFC President Dana White. The former two-division champion was initially scheduled to face off against lightweight Michael Chandler at UFC 303 earlier this summer. However, McGregor suffered a broken toe just weeks before the fight, forcing a postponement.
While both McGregor and Chandler had expressed optimism about a potential matchup at UFC 310 in Las Vegas this December, White confirmed that McGregor will not compete in 2023. He stated that McGregor wants to fight, and they will work towards a return in the new year.
McGregor’s absence has been notable, as he has been sidelined since a broken leg injury sustained during a loss to Dustin Poirier in July 2021. His return to the Octagon has been a topic of much speculation, with fans eagerly awaiting his comeback.
McGregor, known for his flamboyant personality and captivating fighting style, holds the distinction of being the first UFC fighter to simultaneously hold two titles. He won the featherweight and lightweight championships in 2015. However, his last victory came in 2020, with subsequent losses to Poirier and the broken leg injury.
With his return pushed back to 2024, fans will have to wait longer to see if McGregor can reclaim his former glory and once again become a dominant force in the UFC.
