Consultancy Scandal: AAP Gov’t Accuses Centre of ‘Witch-Hunt’ as Delhi Jal Board Case Referred to ACB

The Directorate of Vigilance has referred the case of Ankit Srivastava, a former consultant for the Delhi Jal Board (DJB), to the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) for investigation.

Srivastava was allegedly continuing to participate in the DJB’s WhatsApp group, where important policy decisions are taken, even after being removed from his post as a consultant. The Directorate of Vigilance claims that Srivastava was ‘giving instructions and participating actively’ in the board’s affairs, even to the extent of ‘bulldozing’ the Chief Engineer.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, which controls the DJB, has labeled the investigation a ‘witch-hunt’ by the Central government, which is ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The AAP government claims that the BJP is targeting consultants, advisors, and domain experts who have worked with the Delhi government in an attempt to ‘paralyze governance in Delhi.’

Srivastava has declined to comment on the matter.
