Convenience Mart Burglary Investigated in Glastonbury, Possibly Linked to Other Crimes

Police in Glastonbury, Connecticut, are currently investigating an early morning break-in at Chestnut Mart, a convenience store located on Main Street. The incident, which occurred just before 3:40 a.m. on Monday, involved the shattering of the front glass door and the theft of cigarettes from inside the store.

According to Lieutenant Kevin Szydlo of the Glastonbury Police Department, the burglary alarm was tripped, prompting officers to respond to the scene. The police department’s Investigations Division processed the scene, and investigators are working with area law enforcement partners to determine if the burglary is linked to similar incidents in the region.

This break-in comes after police in Cromwell, Connecticut, reported a robbery and an attempted break-in at two convenience stores and gas stations just prior to the Glastonbury incident. In the Cromwell incidents, three individuals robbed a convenience store on West Street before attempting to break into another nearby store. The individuals were seen leaving both crime scenes in a vehicle.

Anyone with information about the Glastonbury burglary is urged to contact the Investigation Division at 860-633-8301.
