Coolie Title Unveiled: Rajinikanth’s Anticipated Film with Lokesh Kanagaraj

The title of Superstar Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated film with director Lokesh Kanagaraj has been unveiled as ‘Coolie.’ Previously known as ‘Thalaivar 171,’ the title was announced through a special teaser video that showcases the film’s intriguing premise.

In the video, Rajinikanth’s character is seen infiltrating an illegal bunker in a seaport, engaging in a brutal fight with gold smugglers, and ultimately confronting the gang’s boss over the phone. The video also features the Superstar uttering the iconic ‘Appavum Thathavum’ dialogue from his 1982 film ‘Ranga’ and a remixed version of ‘Vaa Vaa Pakkam Vaa’ from his 1983 film ‘Thanga Magan’ as the background score.

The title reveal is reminiscent of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s previous film announcements, with Rajinikanth’s ‘Mudichidalama?’ echoing Kamal Haasan’s ‘Aarambikalama?’ from ‘Vikram.’ From the teaser video, it appears that Rajinikanth will be portraying a grey character involved in taking down a gold smuggling racket.

Lokesh Kanagaraj has confirmed that ‘Coolie’ will not be part of his established Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), which includes ‘Kaithi,’ ‘Vikram,’ and the upcoming ‘Leo.’ The film features the director’s frequent collaborators, including music director Anirudh and stunt directors Anbariv, who are also working on Rajinikanth’s current project, ‘Vettaiyan.’ ‘Coolie’ is produced by Sun Pictures, which has previously collaborated with Rajinikanth on films like ‘Enthiran,’ ‘Petta,’ ‘Annaatthe,’ and ‘Jailer.’
