Coronation Street residents Paul Foreman and Gemma Winter-Brown have been part of the soap for years, but next week, viewers will learn more about their past as Paul’s father, Denny, arrives in Weatherfield.
The family is currently dealing with Paul’s heartbreaking battle with motor neurone disease, so this revelation comes as a shock. In upcoming episodes, Billy Mayhew supports Paul as he prepares for Amy Barlow’s live radio show, where he passionately discusses his condition and society’s lack of regard for disability.
However, things take a dramatic turn when Bernie is approached by a man who reveals he heard the broadcast and didn’t realize his son, Paul, was dying. Bernie, desperate to keep Denny out of Paul’s life, lies and says the broadcast was pre-recorded and that Paul has already passed away.
Denny, however, is suspicious and follows Bernie to the florist flat, where he discovers his estranged twins, Gemma and Paul. When Denny comments on Paul’s health, Bernie’s lie is exposed. She confides in Dev Alahan about her secret past, while Billy reminds Paul of the physical abuse he endured at Denny’s hands.
Meanwhile, Paul’s condition worsens, and Denny leaves him alone in the flat to buy snacks. Gemma ignores Denny’s request to meet the quads, unaware that Paul is struggling to breathe. When Denny returns, he finds Paul barely conscious and calls for help.
This shocking revelation will undoubtedly have major repercussions for the Foreman family. Viewers can expect a tense and emotional week on Coronation Street as secrets are exposed and relationships are tested.
