Costa Coffee to Close Inverness City Centre Store

Costa Coffee has announced that it will be closing its store in Inverness, Scotland, in July. The store is located on Inglis Street, right in the city centre of the Highlands city.

A spokesperson for Costa Coffee confirmed the closure, saying that the company is currently having conversations with all of its store team members and aims to re-deploy them to nearby stores. Customers can still enjoy their favourite Costa coffee at the Inglis Street store until July, with the next nearest Costa Coffee store found in the Eastgate Shopping Centre in Inverness.

Costa says it regularly reviews its store estate across the UK to ensure it’s right for its communities and teams. To find your nearest store or Costa Express machine, you can visit the chain’s website.

The closure of the Inverness store is part of a wider trend of store closures on the high street. In the past year, several major retailers have announced plans to close stores, including Superdry, Boots, and Barclays. However, some shops are bucking the trend and opening new locations, such as Primark, B&M, and WHSmith.

The reasons for the decline of the high street are complex, but they include the rise of online shopping, the increasing cost of energy, and the changing spending habits of consumers. As a result, many retailers are having to adapt to the changing retail landscape by closing underperforming stores and focusing on their online presence.
