Counter-Intelligence Kashmir Dismantles LeT Offshoot Recruitment Module in Multi-District Operation

In a significant blow to terrorist operations in Jammu and Kashmir, the Counter-Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) conducted a major operation on October 22, dismantling a recruitment module linked to the newly formed terrorist organization ‘Tehreek Labaik Ya Muslim’ (TLM). This operation, spanning six districts in the valley, targeted the group’s activities and resulted in the apprehension of individuals involved in recruiting members for TLM, which is believed to be an offshoot of the notorious Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

The CIK’s operation, conducted across the districts of Anantnag, Budgam, Ganderbal, Kulgam, Pulwama, and Srinagar, was a targeted effort to disrupt the recruitment network of TLM. Intelligence sources revealed that this terrorist group was being operated by a Pakistani terrorist handler known as ‘@ Baba Hamas,’ who was directing its activities from across the border. The successful dismantling of this module is a major victory in the fight against terrorism in the region.

This counter-terrorism operation comes amidst a recent incident in Ganderbal, where indiscriminate gunfire claimed the lives of one doctor, a designer, and five labourers. The incident has sparked outrage and concern across the region, prompting the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to deploy a team to the site of the attack. The NIA team, led by a Superintendent of Police associated with the NIA’s regional branch in the valley, is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack and bring those responsible to justice.

In response to the tragic incident, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah condemned the “cowardly attack on non-local labourers at Gagangir in Sonamarg region”. Abdullah, who recently won the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections from Ganderbal and Budgam, has reiterated his commitment to ensuring public security in the region. He urged the police and security forces to remain “alert”, emphasizing that these acts of violence against innocent people are being carried out to “create a perception that J&K is not stable.” The Chief Minister assured the people that the administration would take all necessary steps to maintain law and order and protect the lives and property of citizens.

The CIK’s successful operation against the TLM recruitment module is a significant development in the ongoing battle against terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. The dismantling of this network is expected to significantly hinder the group’s ability to recruit new members and carry out attacks in the region. The NIA investigation into the recent Ganderbal attack is ongoing, and authorities are committed to ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to justice. The Chief Minister’s reassurance regarding public security has been welcomed by the people, who are hoping for a return to normalcy and peace in the region.
