A couple from Florida, Dakota Jones and Kira Enders of DeFuniak Springs, have been accused of creating a fake $1 million lottery ticket using two $500X The Cash scratch-off tickets. The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office stated that the couple carefully pieced together the two tickets to make it appear as a winning ticket.
Enders allegedly drove to the Florida Lottery’s office in Pensacola on March 1 to submit an official claim form for a $1 million payment. Six days later, she reportedly contacted the lottery to inquire about the status of their claim and spoke to Special Agent Richard Pisanti.
When Jones and Enders met with Pisanti on March 11, they were immediately detained and separated pending an investigation. During her interview, Enders claimed that she had scratched the ticket herself and believed it was worth $1 million. However, when confronted with the inconsistencies on the ticket, she denied taping the two pieces together.
Meanwhile, Jones presented a different account of events. PISANTI showed Enders that the counterfeited ticket did not match the words on the back. Enders responded: ‘What, they don’t go together?’
