A special court in Mumbai has remanded three suspects arrested in connection with a firing incident at Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s residence to police custody till May 8. The accused, Vicky Gupta (24), Sagar Pal (21), and Anuj Thapan (32), were arrested last week and were initially booked under the Indian Penal Code and Arms Act. However, the Mumbai Police invoked the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) on Saturday, leading to their extended detention for further investigation.
The fourth accused, Sonu Kumar Chander Bishnoi (37), was remanded to judicial custody on medical grounds. The police had registered a first information report (FIR) under section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (attempt to murder) after two motorbike-borne men fired at Galaxy Apartment, Khan’s residence in Bandra, Mumbai, on April 14. The police believe that the accused were part of a larger conspiracy and are investigating their connections and motives.
The incident has raised concerns about the security of Bollywood celebrities and the rising influence of organized crime in the entertainment industry. The Mumbai Police are conducting a detailed investigation and are expected to provide further updates in the coming days.
