Cowboys Meet with Ezekiel Elliott’s Representative Ahead of NFL Draft

The Dallas Cowboys have been quiet during free agency, but it appears that they’re finally making a move. The team is reportedly meeting with running back Ezekiel Elliott’s representative ahead of the NFL Draft, per Josina Anderson. The Cowboys have a need at running back after losing Tony Pollard to free agency. Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaugn, and Malik Davis are all capable backs, but none of them are the kind of three-down back that the Cowboys need.

Elliott was drafted by the Cowboys in 2016 and went on to post 1,631 yards and 15 touchdowns on his way to receiving an All-Pro designation. Despite losing the Offensive Rookie of the Year award, Elliott was recognized as one of the most dynamic players in the league. Elliott spent the next six seasons racking up a total of 8,262 yards and 68 touchdowns with the Cowboys on a 4.4 yards per average run.

A reunion with Elliott would be a welcome addition to the Cowboys’ offense. He is a proven running back who knows the Cowboys’ system. He would also take pressure off of quarterback Dak Prescott and help to open up the passing game.

The Cowboys might still consider drafting a running back in the draft, but having Elliott would take a lot of pressure off Jones. Fans might also be jumping for joy to see Elliott return after ultimately being mishandled by Jones and the Cowboys organization.

The Cowboys are scheduled to pick 26th overall in the first round of the NFL Draft. The draft will be held on April 27-29 in Kansas City, Missouri.
