Crown Resorts Declared Suitable to Hold Sydney Casino Licence

The New South Wales Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority (NICC) has determined that Crown Resorts has made significant progress in reforming its business practices and implementing measures to address regulatory concerns.

Crown Sydney has invested A$200 million in a comprehensive transformation program, focusing on harm minimization, financial crime prevention, governance, compliance, and risk management.

NICC Chief Commissioner Philip Crawford expressed confidence in Crown’s ability to operate responsibly going forward. Crown Resorts and Crown Sydney acknowledged the decision and pledged to continue working closely with the NICC to meet license requirements.

Crown Perth is currently implementing its remediation plan, which is expected to be completed by January 2025.

Crown Resorts had previously agreed to pay a A$450 million fine for anti-money laundering violations in an effort to resolve regulatory issues that had plagued the company.
