At this year’s InnoTrans, a leading global trade fair for transport technology, CRRC Corporation Limited (CRRC) took center stage with its theme, “On Track for A Low Carbon Future.” CRRC, a global leader in railway transportation, showcased its impressive heavy-haul capabilities and innovative, eco-friendly freight solutions at its booth in Berlin, Germany.
CRRC’s commitment to sustainable and efficient transportation is evident in its groundbreaking heavy-haul technologies. Their 24-axle electric locomotive is a marvel of engineering, capable of hauling 10,000-ton freight trains over challenging gradients, all with a single unit. This powerful locomotive can be customized to meet various operational needs and is equipped with cutting-edge intelligent technologies for enhanced safety, reliability, and efficiency. Further emphasizing their prowess in heavy-haul, CRRC has introduced a 45-ton axle load ore car, setting a new standard for loading capacity. When marshalled, this car can transport up to 46,800 tons of cargo.
CRRC’s focus extends beyond heavy-haul, as they are pushing the boundaries of high-speed freight transportation. Their 350 km/h high-speed freight EMU, designed with an aerodynamic shape inspired by the Chinese sturgeon, is the fastest and most spacious high-speed freight train in the world. Affectionately nicknamed the “Express Freight Hero” by online fans, this EMU boasts a unique feature: 2.9-meter-wide loading doors on each carriage, a distinctive feature that sets it apart from traditional passenger models. This innovative train offers a significant advantage over air and road transportation, demonstrating environmental resilience and energy efficiency. The EMU can cover 1,500 kilometers in just five hours, consuming a mere 8% of the energy per unit weight of cargo compared to airplanes, highlighting its economic and environmental benefits.
CRRC’s commitment to sustainable practices is evident in their development of “Created-in-China” eco-friendly solutions for global rail transit. In June, the company unveiled its groundbreaking serialized new energy locomotives in Beijing. Among the seven models showcased, a 2000kW hydrogen-battery hybrid locomotive stood out. This series features a range of power outputs, encompassing diesel-battery hybrids, solely battery-powered, and hydrogen-battery hybrids, all engineered for minimal to zero carbon emissions and low noise levels. These locomotives epitomize CRRC’s dedication to leading the shift towards sustainable practices in the transportation sector, paving the way for a greener future.
