Crystal Cruises Announces Construction of Two New Luxury Ships with Fincantieri

Crystal Cruises has officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the renowned Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri for the construction of two new luxury cruise ships. These ships are set to redefine the standards of luxury and comfort in the tourism industry, captivating the attention of travel enthusiasts and industry professionals alike.

Each of the two new cruise ships will accommodate 690 passengers and boast a gross tonnage of 61,800. Crystal promises a plethora of amenities and innovative designs that will ensure unparalleled comfort and indulgence for guests. The first ship is slated for delivery in spring 2028, with the delivery date for the second ship to be announced later. Additionally, there is an option for a third vessel scheduled for delivery in 2032.

Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio, Executive Chairman of A&K Travel Group, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration: “This order is another milestone in the 40 years of productive collaboration between Fincantieri and my family that started with Sitmar Cruises, continued with Silversea, and now is flourishing again with Crystal.” This partnership underscores a legacy of excellence and innovation in the cruise industry.

Cristina Levis, CEO of A&K Travel Group, added, “Our aim is to continue setting a new standard in cruising, offering our guests an unmatched level of service and sophistication. These new ships will receive the same level of attention I have reserved for my own house.” Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO of Fincantieri, highlighted the broader implications of this order: “This order not only highlights the robust recovery of the cruise sector, in line with our Industrial Plan, but also reaffirms Fincantieri’s leadership, thanks to the operational excellence of our shipyards and the execution quality of our world-class supply chain.”

Prominent architectural firms Studio Ibsen, led by Prof. and Architect Adriana Granato, and Studio Gem, headed by Naval Architect Giacomo Mortola and Naval Engineer Lorenzo Mortola, will lead the design efforts. A third international design firm is yet to be appointed.

A standout feature of these ships will be a promenade extending throughout the entire perimeter of the ships, reminiscent of the beloved promenades on Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity. Culinary enthusiasts will be delighted by a variety of dining options, including Umi Uma, the only Nobu at sea, and the recently announced Beefbar. Exclusive entertainment options will continue Crystal’s legacy of sophistication, complemented by a luxurious casino offering a range of gaming options in an elegant setting.

Wellness and relaxation will be at the heart of the new ships, featuring a comprehensive spa and state-of-the-art fitness center. The new ships will cater to families traveling with children by providing a dedicated area designed for engaging activities and a safe space for younger guests. Additionally, all-suite accommodations with private verandas will include a popular single occupancy category, catering to solo travelers. This commitment to comfort is further enhanced by one of the highest crew-to-passenger ratios in the luxury cruise segment, ensuring personalized service and attention to detail.

This announcement comes two years after A&K Travel Group acquired Crystal in 2022, marking a new chapter for the cruise line. As the travel and tourism industry continues to recover and evolve, these new ships symbolize a commitment to excellence and innovation.

In conclusion, the signing of the MOA between Crystal and Fincantieri represents a significant milestone in the tourism industry. With the promise of unmatched luxury and comfort, these new cruise ships are set to elevate the standards of international travel and offer unforgettable experiences to travelers worldwide. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development in global travel news.
