CSK Replaces Ravindra with Mitchell for IPL Clash Against LSG

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have made a change to their playing XI for their upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), bringing back Daryl Mitchell in place of Rachin Ravindra. The decision was made after CSK lost to LSG by 8 wickets in their previous encounter, despite a valiant effort from Ravindra, who scored an unbeaten 57 off 40 balls.

CSK’s decision to bench Ravindra is likely due to his recent struggles with the bat. Despite a promising start to the season, which included brisk knocks of 37 and 46 against RCB and GT, Ravindra has managed only 50 runs in his last 5 outings, with an average of 10. In the previous game against Lucknow, he was dismissed for a duck after being rattled by left-arm seamer Mohsin Khan.

On the other hand, Mitchell has been a consistent performer for CSK in IPL 2024, scoring 135 runs in 6 matches at an average of 27 and a strike rate of 164.19. He has also picked up a wicket at an economy rate of 9.

CSK currently sits fourth in the IPL standings with 8 points and a net run rate of +0.529. They will be hoping that the return of Mitchell and the omission of Ravindra will bolster their chances of a victory against a strong LSG side.
