CSX and Turken Health McCauley Sponsor First Responders Children’s Foundation’s Thanksgiving Event
New York, NY – November 28, 2024 – The First Responders Children’s Foundation (FRCF), a national 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the families of America’s brave first responders, celebrated its 23rd annual pre-Thanksgiving Day Parade breakfast and ceremony on Thursday, November 28th. The event, held at the prestigious Bryant Park Grill in Manhattan, brought together over 1,500 first responder family members and guests for a day of gratitude, celebration, and remembrance. This heartwarming occasion was made possible through the generous support of Title Sponsor CSX and Diamond Sponsor Turken Health McCauley.
The day began with a vibrant atmosphere filled with family fun. A dedicated family fun zone offered photo opportunities, exciting toy giveaways, delectable food trucks, lively music, and engaging games, ensuring a memorable experience for all attendees. The main event unfolded with a powerful and moving ceremony. A joint color guard presentation by the FDNY, NYPD, and Port Authority Police Department (PAPD) commenced the ceremony, showcasing the unwavering dedication of our nation’s first responders.
Distinguished speakers added profound meaning to the occasion. FDNY Commissioner Robert Tucker, NYPD First Deputy Commissioner Tania Kinsella, PAPD Superintendent Edward Cetnar, and DEA Special Agent in Charge Frank Tarentino shared inspiring messages of gratitude and remembrance. The poignant stories of first responder children further highlighted the impact of the Foundation’s work and the sacrifices made by their families.
This year’s Community Hero Award was presented to FDNY Lieutenant Joseph LaPointe, recognizing his exceptional service and significant contributions to the FDNY’s ceremonial unit and his strong partnership with the FRCF. The culmination of the day’s events was the granting of front-row seats to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade for the families of our first responders – a truly unforgettable experience.
“Today, we unite to pay tribute to the heroes who selflessly answer our calls for help,” said Jillian Crane, CEO and President of FRCF. “This Thanksgiving, we express our profound gratitude to our first responders nationwide, while also remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Our sincere thanks go to CSX and Turken Health McCauley, and all our sponsors and donors, for their unwavering support.”
Mike Cory, CSX COO and FRCF Board Member, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing CSX’s commitment to supporting those who serve our communities. “Through our Pride in Service initiative, we honor the sacrifices of first responders and show appreciation for their families. We’re proud to be part of this event and to support those who protect us daily.” He also acknowledged the CSX Pride in Service scholarship recipients in attendance – children of first responders continuing a legacy of service through higher education.
Matthew McCauley, Managing Partner of the 9/11 Benefits Practice at Turken, Heath & McCauley, LLP and FRCF Board Member, shared a personal perspective as a former NYPD officer who worked many Thanksgiving Day Parades. He understood firsthand the joy of the families and the sacrifices involved. “It’s an honor to sponsor this event, creating lasting holiday memories and giving back to these deserving families,” he stated.
The event was attended by numerous dignitaries, including Al Kahn, Founder and Chairman of FRCF; Jillian Crane, President & CEO of FRCF; presenting sponsor CSX President & CEO Joe Hinrichs; and diamond sponsor Turken, Heath and McCauley, LLP Partner and First Responders Children’s Foundation Board Member Matthew McCauley.
