Culinary Local 226 members at Sunset Station in Henderson have launched an effort to remove the union as their representative. The majority of Culinary employees at the location signed an employee-led petition to decertify the union.
Approximately 80% of workers voted to join the union in June 2019. Station Casinos officials have withdrawn recognition of the union as an authorized bargaining agreement.
The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has yet to comment on the decertification process or whether it has been notified of the change. An NLRB website indicates that an election will determine the outcome.
According to Scott Kreeger, president of Station’s parent company Red Rock Resorts, the company values the support from its workers.
Culinary and Station Casinos have had a strained relationship for years, with ongoing unionization efforts and a court order requiring the company to bargain in good faith with union employees at Red Rock Resort.
