Cyclone Remal, which made landfall on the West Bengal coast late Sunday night, has also started affecting Bihar. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert, indicating that many districts in Bihar will experience significant impacts from the cyclone. Travelers should note that heavy rains are expected, along with winds blowing at speeds of 130 to 140 kilometers per hour.
The cyclone’s influence is already evident in Patna, leading to the cancellation of flights between Kolkata and Patna and Patna to Kolkata as a precautionary measure. Additionally, flights from Deoghar to Patna and Patna to Deoghar have been canceled, causing considerable inconvenience to passengers.
The Meteorological Department reports that Cyclone Rimel made landfall on the West Bengal coast late Sunday night, bringing with it heavy rains and strong winds. Both West Bengal and Bihar have made thorough preparations to handle the cyclone. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also conducted a meeting to ensure readiness against the cyclone’s impact.
In northern Bihar, the cyclonic storm is expected to bring significant rainfall, which will lower the maximum temperature and provide relief from the heat. The entire region of Bihar, particularly the northeastern areas, will experience affected weather for the next 5-6 days. Light to moderate and sometimes heavy rains are anticipated across many districts. The storm will also bring winds reaching speeds of 130 to 140 km per hour and predominantly cloudy weather.
The forecast from the Meteorological Department predicts strong storms and heavy rain in North Bihar, cloudy weather in South Bihar, and light rain in certain areas. Districts such as Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Saharsa, Madhepura, Purnia, Katihar, Khagaria, Munger, Bhagalpur, Banka, and Jamui are likely to experience rain on May 27 and 28. This will result in reduced temperatures and relief from heat waves. Additionally, there is a possibility of scattered showers and light rain across Bihar.
From May 28 to 29, districts including Sitamarhi, Shivhar, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Supaul, Saharsa, Araria, Munger, Jamui, Banka, Bhagalpur, Madhepura, Purnia, Katihar, and Kishanganj will see rainfall. Between May 29 and 30, clouds will cover the entire state, with sporadic rain expected in all districts.
The flow of moist easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal will continue in Bihar, but this will not affect the monsoon, which is expected to arrive on time.
