Kelly Allen, a 45-year-old mother from Swansea, was subjected to a horrific attack by her friend’s dachshund, which resulted in a significant portion of her cheek being ripped off. The incident occurred on March 15th, while Kelly was visiting her friend’s residence. The dachshund, which had previously exhibited no signs of aggression, suddenly lunged at Kelly, latching onto her face with its teeth. Despite repeated attempts by Kelly and her friends to remove the dog, it refused to loosen its grip, causing extensive damage to her cheek.
Kelly was rushed to Morriston Hospital, where she underwent five and a half hours of plastic surgery to repair the extensive lacerations on her face. The procedure involved grafting skin from her neck onto her cheek, leaving her with a seven-inch scar across her collarbone. In addition to the facial injury, Kelly also sustained a bite wound on her arm, requiring six stitches.
The attack has had a devastating impact on Kelly’s life. She has been left with a permanent facial scar and is struggling to cope with the trauma of the incident. The physical and emotional scars have made it difficult for her to return to her job at a contact center for Tui, where she had been employed prior to the attack.
Kelly’s financial situation has also been severely affected by the attack. She is currently receiving only £350 per month in statutory sick pay, which is insufficient to cover her living expenses and bills. She is seeking compensation for her injuries and the financial losses she has incurred as a result of the attack.
It has emerged that the dachshund had a history of aggression and had allegedly attacked two other people prior to the incident involving Kelly. The dog was subsequently removed from the property by police and euthanized at a training facility in Cardiff.
Kelly’s family and friends have rallied around her, providing emotional support and assistance. Her sister, Stacey, has launched a fundraiser to help cover Kelly’s expenses, which has so far raised over £1,000. Kelly has expressed her gratitude for the support she has received, but she remains deeply affected by the trauma of the attack and the ongoing challenges she faces as a result.
