Dali Cargo Ship Deemed “Unseaworthy” Prior to Baltimore Bridge Crash

The city of Baltimore has filed a legal response to GOPL’s request to limit its liabilities in relation to the bridge damage and subsequent loss of life. The city argues that the Dali crashed into the bridge despite evident warning signals. The court filing states that “Reporting has indicated that, even before leaving port, alarms showing inconsistent power supply on the Dali had sounded. The Dali left port anyways despite its clearly unseaworthy condition.”

The Port of Baltimore, recognized as one of the busiest ports in the United States, asserts that GOPL’s negligence caused the destruction of the Key Bridge and severely impacted the port’s operations, leading to job losses, reduced municipal revenue, and diminished pride for the city and its residents. GOPL has yet to respond to these allegations.
