David Corenswet, the new face of DC’s Superman, initially auditioned for a prominent role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As revealed by DC Studios co-CEO and ‘Superman’ director James Gunn, Corenswet sought the role of Adam Warlock, a genetically engineered alien ultimately portrayed by Will Poulter in the final film.
However, it seems that Corenswet was a better fit for the Man of Steel, as Gunn candidly confessed that he didn’t recall his audition for Adam Warlock. Gunn also hinted at advanced flying effects for Superman, distinct from those used for Adam Warlock.
The highly anticipated ‘Superman: Legacy’ remains on schedule for its July 11, 2025 release date, despite the industry-wide strikes in 2023. The film will follow a young Superman as he reconciles his Kryptonian and Earthly roots. Gunn emphasized that it will not be an origin story.
Other DC characters will join Superman on the big screen, including Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, and María Gabriela as The Engineer. Gunn has confirmed that these actors will reprise their roles in future DCU projects.
