Davis Wins Rocket Mortgage Classic in Dramatic Finish

Cam Davis has emerged victorious at the Rocket Mortgage Classic for the second time, securing a one-shot triumph over Akshay Bhatia in a nail-biting final round. Davis, a 29-year-old Australian who celebrated his first PGA Tour victory at Detroit Golf Club three years ago, found himself tied with Bhatia after sinking a birdie on the par-5 17th hole. The pressure mounted as Bhatia’s 4-foot par attempt on the 18th missed, marking his first three-putt of the week, handing Davis the win.

Davis finished the tournament with a score of 18-under 270. The final pairing of Bhatia and Aaron Rai, both shooting an even-par 72, missed numerous opportunities to claim the title. Davis Thompson (68) and Min Woo Lee (69) also ended the tournament just one stroke behind the winner. Davis’ victory marks him as the first player to win the event twice since its debut on the PGA Tour schedule in 2019.

The 22-year-old Bhatia, aiming for his third PGA Tour title and second this year, had held either the lead or a share of the lead after each of the first three rounds. Cameron Young, who shot a 73, tumbled to sixth place after two bogeys on the final three holes. Frustrated by his performance, Young broke his driver on the 14th tee box, highlighting the intense pressure of the tournament.
