Actor Dax Shepard made a surprising revelation on ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers,’ confessing that he’s been cutting his own hair since the tender age of 12. He shared his hairdressing journey, starting with his own locks and eventually branching out to his classmates, with mohawks being his specialty. “I bought the little kit, and I started cutting hair when I was in middle school,” he shared with Meyers. “I actually got in a lot, lot of trouble,” he added, hinting at the daring haircuts he gave his peers.
Shepard’s hairdressing skills didn’t stop there. He recently took on a new client – his mother-in-law, Lorelei Bell. “Kristen’s mom was visiting, my mother-in-law Lori, and I just kept looking at her the whole week. Not critically… I just thought, ‘That’s not the right shape for her head,'” Shepard explained. He decided to offer his services, saying, “I said, ‘Would you be open to me giving you a new style?’ And I don’t know why she agreed to it, but, man, I nailed it. I gave her a whole new look.”
Shepard’s confidence in his haircutting abilities wasn’t misplaced. Lorelei, after returning to Michigan, received an outpouring of compliments for her new style. “I swear I got at least 20 text messages saying, ‘Oh my god, everyone at work is saying my hair looks great. It’s so wonderful’,” Shepard shared. “Like it was a big, big hit.”
It seems Lorelei has become a loyal client, with Shepard even joking, “My assumption was that she would go to the salon and say, ‘Do that again.'” He added, “She thinks I’m her hairstylist now. So when she comes, she’s expecting [a haircut] and I’m like, ‘I only do new looks. I give you a new look and I never cut your hair again.'”
