A tragic explosion at a suspected firecracker unit in Haryana’s Sonipat district resulted in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to seven others. The incident occurred on Saturday in the village of Ridhau, where a house was reportedly being used as an illegal firecracker manufacturing facility.
The explosion, which took place at a suspected firecracker factory in Ridhau village of Kharkhoda, sent shockwaves through the community. Workers and their families were present at the time, leading to a significant number of casualties. The injured were immediately rushed to PGIMS Hospital in Rohtak for urgent medical attention.
Police investigations revealed that the house was being used as an illegal firecracker factory, with materials commonly used in the production of fireworks found at the scene. The exact cause of the explosion is still under investigation, but initial indications suggest that a chemical used in the process might have ignited, leading to the devastating blast.
Sonipat ACP Jeet Singh confirmed the incident, stating that the house owner had been apprehended and that a thorough investigation was underway. He explained that the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team had been called in to examine the site and determine the precise cause of the explosion.
This incident marks the second major fire-related incident in India on September 28th. Earlier in the day, a fire broke out at a chemical godown belonging to the electronics component factory of Tata Electronics Pvt Ltd in Tamil Nadu. However, thankfully, no casualties were reported in this incident.
The Tamil Nadu police swiftly deployed seven fire tenders from Hosur and neighboring districts to bring the blaze under control. A senior fire and rescue service official confirmed that the fire started at approximately 6 am in a chemical godown located within the factory premises.
Tata Electronics, in an official statement, confirmed the fire incident and assured the public that all employees were safe. They stated that emergency protocols were promptly activated, ensuring the well-being of their workforce. While the cause of the fire is currently being investigated, Tata Electronics has pledged to take necessary actions to protect the interests of its employees and stakeholders.
These incidents serve as a stark reminder of the potential dangers associated with industrial operations, particularly in industries like firecracker manufacturing and chemical handling. It is crucial for companies and regulatory authorities to prioritize safety measures and adhere to strict regulations to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future.
