“Deep Sky”: Stunning IMAX Documentary Returns to Theaters for Earth Day

Originally released in a limited run last October, “Deep Sky” is an IMAX Original documentary that showcases the mesmerizing imagery captured by the James Webb Space Telescope during its first year of operation. This documentary highlights the telescope’s incredible remote galactic subjects, providing stunning visuals of the cosmos.

The James Webb Space Telescope, launched in 2021, is the world’s largest off-Earth observatory. It began science operations in July 2022, capturing unprecedented images of the universe.

Now, “Deep Sky” is returning to IMAX screens for a one-week run in celebration of Earth Day on April 19, 2024. The film will be shown on over 300 screens worldwide, giving audiences an immersive experience of the universe’s wonders.

Directed by Nathaniel Kahn and narrated by Michelle Williams, “Deep Sky” takes viewers on a journey through time and space, exploring cosmic landscapes and recently discovered exoplanets. It follows the high-stakes mission to build and launch the James Webb Space Telescope, with stunning visuals and thought-provoking questions about the origins of the universe and our place within it.
