Following complaints regarding deepfake videos by actors Aamir Khan and Ranveer Singh, Mumbai DCP Datta Nalawade stated on Wednesday that an investigation is underway. He urged the public to refrain from forwarding such videos.
Nalawade shared that 2-3 cases have been reported, resulting in registered cases and ongoing investigations. To date, five complaints have been received, and all are being thoroughly investigated.
He elucidated that deepfake videos are crafted using computer algorithms, incorporating multiple images of the same individual. He implored the public to remain vigilant, report any such videos, and refrain from forwarding them.
The call to action emphasizes the need for responsible behavior in the digital realm. By reporting and not forwarding deepfake videos, individuals can contribute to combating the spread of misinformation and protecting the privacy of those targeted.
