Deepti Sharma Moves to Uttar Pradesh Ahead of Domestic Season

Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma will be playing for Uttar Pradesh in the upcoming domestic season, marking a shift from her previous team, Bengal. The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Snehasish Ganguly confirmed the development, stating that Deepti’s decision stems from her new role with the Uttar Pradesh Police. Earlier this year, in January, Deepti was appointed as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) by the Uttar Pradesh government.

Deepti, a crucial member of India’s women’s cricket team, had initially moved to Bengal from Uttar Pradesh a few years ago. This decision was influenced by fellow cricketers Jhulan Goswami and Mithu Mukherjee who convinced her to join the Bengal team. Last year, rumors surfaced about her potential departure from the Bengal team, but CAB officials managed to persuade her to stay.

Regarding Deepti’s replacement, Ganguly mentioned that no decision has been finalized yet on whether to recruit any players from outside Bengal. Deepti’s international career boasts impressive figures: she has played in five Women’s Tests, 89 One Day Internationals (ODIs), and 117 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).
