Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has been discharged from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi, the hospital announced on Saturday. Singh had been admitted to the hospital on Thursday morning after experiencing back pain. The incident occurred just a day after Singh celebrated his 73rd birthday. A prominent figure in Indian politics, Singh serves as the Member of Parliament from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, and is currently leading the Ministry of Defence for the second consecutive term. His political journey has seen him hold significant positions, including the Union Home Minister during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first term in 2014. Before entering national politics, Singh served in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from 1977 to 1980 and again from 2001 to 2003. He also served as the Minister of Education in the Uttar Pradesh government from 1991 to 1992. Singh’s ministerial experience at the national level extends to the Ministry of Surface Transport, which he held from 1999 to 2000. He later rose to become the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh from 2000 to 2002. In 2003, he served as the Minister of Agriculture in the Union Cabinet. His political journey continued with his election to the 15th Lok Sabha in 2009, where he also served as a member of the Committee on Ethics.
