Delhi AAP Leader Confident of Kejriwal’s Re-election, Challenges BJP to ‘Fight Fair’

Amidst a political storm swirling around Arvind Kejriwal’s recent announcement to resign as Delhi Chief Minister, AAP leader and Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj has expressed unwavering confidence in the party’s victory in the upcoming assembly elections. He claims that the people of Delhi are eager for the polls, scheduled for February 2025, to re-elect Kejriwal as their leader.

Bharadwaj’s statements come on the heels of Kejriwal’s dramatic announcement that he would resign after two days, contingent upon receiving a ‘certificate of honesty’ from the people of Delhi through elections. He believes this decision will be a defining moment in Indian politics, marking the first time a Chief Minister has sought re-election solely based on the mandate of honesty.

Bharadwaj further emphasized that Kejriwal’s decision is a response to the relentless efforts of the central government, including agencies like the ED, CBI, and Income Tax, to tarnish the Chief Minister’s reputation. He claims that despite these attempts, the people of Delhi continue to trust Kejriwal and the AAP.

In a direct challenge to the BJP, Bharadwaj urged them to engage in a fair and transparent electoral contest, asserting that the people of Delhi will ultimately decide the fate of the next government. He emphasized that the BJP’s confidence in their ability to overthrow Kejriwal should translate into their willingness to face the electorate.

While addressing questions regarding the potential successor to Kejriwal during this interim period, Bharadwaj maintained that the AAP has a clear plan in place. He stated that the party will hold a meeting of the legislative party to elect a leader who will present the claim to the President through the Lieutenant Governor. He assured that the entire process will be completed within a week.

Bharadwaj’s statements highlight the escalating political drama unfolding in Delhi, with the upcoming elections promising a fierce contest between the AAP and the BJP. With Kejriwal’s unprecedented move to seek a ‘certificate of honesty’ from the electorate, the upcoming polls will undoubtedly be a crucial test of his leadership and the people’s faith in his government.
