Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), a subsidiary of GMR Airports Infrastructure Limited, has launched a state-of-the-art Self Service Bag Drop (SSBD) Quick Drop Solution at Delhi Airport. This innovation marks a significant milestone as the first facility of its kind in India and the second globally, following Toronto, Canada.
This cutting-edge system is designed to transform the passenger experience by simplifying the baggage drop process and minimizing wait times. With approximately 50 Self Service Bag Drop units now active across Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, travelers can expect a seamless and efficient check-in procedure.
Traditional SSBD units allow passengers to bypass check-in counters by using Common Use Self Service kiosks to print their boarding passes and baggage tags. Upon arriving at the SSBD unit, travelers scan their boarding passes or faces via biometric cameras and then deposit their bags on the conveyor belt. The entire process typically takes about a minute.
DIAL has further streamlined the SSBD process by introducing the groundbreaking QUICK DROP SOLUTION. This advancement simplifies the process into a single step, eliminating the need for boarding pass or biometric verification, as these details are already encoded on the baggage tag. Consequently, the processing time is reduced from approximately a minute to just 30 seconds, enhancing overall operational efficiency.
Speaking on this occasion, CEO-DIAL, Mr. Videh Kumar Jaipuriar said, “We are thrilled to introduce the Self Service Bag Drop Quick Drop Solution at Delhi Airport, setting a new standard for passenger convenience and efficiency in India. This initiative underscores our commitment to leveraging advanced technology to enhance the travel experience. The Quick Drop Solution not only speeds up the baggage drop process but also ensures a smoother, more enjoyable journey for our passengers. We are proud to be pioneers in this space and look forward to continuing to innovate in ways that benefit travelers.”
The Quick Drop Solution is currently offered by three airlines: Air India, IndiGo, and Air India Express. Key features of this solution include:
* Reduced processing time to 30 seconds.
* Elimination of the need for boarding pass or biometric verification.
* Simplified single-step process.
* Enhanced passenger convenience and efficiency.
The introduction of the Quick Drop Solution at Delhi Airport is a testament to DIAL’s commitment to providing a world-class travel experience for its passengers. This innovative technology is poised to revolutionize the baggage drop process, setting a new benchmark for airport efficiency and passenger satisfaction in India and beyond.
