Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport is welcoming travelers back to its refurbished Terminal 1, which officially reopens on Saturday, August 19th. The new terminal boasts enhanced passenger convenience and state-of-the-art facilities, marking a significant step towards a future-ready travel experience.
The reopening comes after Terminal 1 was closed in June following a canopy collapse incident. IndiGo and SpiceJet will be relocating their flight operations to the newly upgraded terminal, bringing improved comfort and efficiency to their passengers.
According to Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), SpiceJet will begin operating from Terminal 1 on August 17th, shifting 13 flights from their previous location. IndiGo will follow suit on September 2nd, moving 34 flights from Terminals 2 and 3 to Terminal 1.
Passengers flying with SpiceJet will access the terminal through Entry Gate A on the ground floor, while IndiGo passengers will use Entry Gates 5 and 6 on the first floor. All arrivals will take place through dedicated arrival areas on the ground floor.
DIAL has implemented clear signage throughout the airport, including on-road markings, to guide IndiGo and SpiceJet passengers to the departure area. RAXA guards will also be present to assist passengers and direct them to the appropriate departure points. Upon arrival, passengers will follow the same route to exit the terminal.
The new Terminal 1 also introduces a unique Queue-Buster: Mobile Check-in Service, aimed at minimizing wait times at check-in counters. This innovative service is expected to provide a smoother and more efficient check-in process for passengers.
