Delhi and Mumbai Airports Make Global Connections: OAG Rankings Reveal Hubs’ Performance

India’s bustling air travel hubs, Delhi and Mumbai, have secured their place among the world’s most connected airports, according to the latest rankings by aviation analytics firm OAG. Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, showcasing a positive climb, has moved up from its 25th position last year to 24th this year. Meanwhile, Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport experienced a noticeable drop, sliding from 34th to 44th place in the global rankings.

The rise of IndiGo, now a global aviation giant, has significantly impacted these airports, establishing both Delhi and Mumbai as its primary hubs. This strategic move has boosted both airports’ standing in the rankings of the world’s leading low-cost megahubs. Delhi’s commitment to low-cost air travel saw it jump from 6th to 5th place this year, while Mumbai held steady at 11th position.

These rankings reflect the dynamic nature of the global aviation landscape and showcase the crucial role Delhi and Mumbai play as international gateways, connecting India to the world through a thriving air travel network.
