Delhi Braces for Heavy Rains: Traffic Disruptions and Waterlogging in Several Areas

Heavy rainfall lashed Delhi and Noida on Tuesday morning, causing severe waterlogging in several areas and leading to significant traffic disruptions. The downpour resulted in challenging commuting conditions for residents as roads became inundated. To address the situation, the Delhi traffic police implemented various traffic diversions to minimize congestion and ensure smooth movement of vehicles.

Here are some key areas affected by waterlogging and the corresponding traffic diversions:

*

Rohtak Road:

Traffic flow is impacted between Nangloi and Tikri Border due to potholes and waterlogging. A cluster bus breakdown near Pillar No 510 further added to the congestion. Commuters are advised to avoid Mundka and utilize alternate routes.

*

Connaught Place:

Diversions are in place on the Connaught Place outer circle, Minto Road, A Point (ITO Chowk), and Rohtak Road. Alternate routes have been opened to manage the traffic flow.

*

Minto Road:

Traffic from Connaught Place towards Minto Road can be diverted to the Outer Circle Connaught Place, Barakhamba Road, and towards Turkman Gate/Kamla Market via Ranjeet Singh Flyover.

*

Kamla Market:

Traffic coming from Kamla Market towards Minto Road can utilize DDU Marg to reach Connaught Place via Ranjeet Singh Flyover.

*

IP Marg:

Traffic from W-Point/Tilak Marg heading towards IP Marg will be rerouted to Bahadurshah Zatar Marg (BSZ Marg).

*

Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg (DDU Marg) and Delhi Gate (BSZ Marg):

Vehicles coming from DDU Marg and Delhi Gate towards IP Marg will also be diverted to BSZ Marg.

*

Bahadurgarh to Peeragarhi:

Commuters traveling from Bahadurgarh to Peeragarhi are advised to use the Jharodha-Najafgarh route or travel via UER-II and then take Najafgarh-Nangloi Road to reach their destination.

*

Those traveling from Peeragarhi to Bahadurgarh or Tikri Border can utilize Outer Ring Road, District Centre Janakpuri, and Najafgarh.

*

Kashmiri Gate:

Commuters can utilize the Rajghat Side towards ISBT Kashmiri Gate.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted widespread light to moderate rainfall for the entire Delhi and southwest NCR region on Tuesday.
