Delhi Braces for Traffic Chaos Amid Heavy Rains

Delhi is grappling with severe traffic disruptions due to heavy rainfall that has flooded several areas of the capital. Overnight downpours continued into the day, leading to widespread waterlogging and snarls across major thoroughfares.

The Delhi Traffic Police have issued a series of advisories, urging commuters to be cautious and plan their journeys accordingly. The most severely affected areas include:

*

GTK Road:

Waterlogging near GTK Depot has led to traffic disruption on both carriageways, from Mukarba Chowk towards Azadpur Chowk and vice versa.
*

MB Road:

Traffic is impacted between Khanpur and Shooting Range T-Point due to waterlogging.
*

Rohtak Road:

The carriageway between Nangloi and Tikri Border is affected by waterlogging. The Delhi Traffic Police recommends avoiding the Mundka route and opting for alternative routes.

Other areas experiencing significant waterlogging include Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, Dhaula Kuan, Parade Road Underpass in Delhi Cantonment, and Sangam Vihar.

Meanwhile, the Regional Weather Forecasting Centre (RWFC) has forecast light to moderate rainfall in Delhi-NCR for the day. They have also predicted similar weather conditions in Jind, Gohana (Haryana), Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Narwana, and Karnal.

Amidst the heavy rainfall, BSES Delhi has advised residents to prioritize safety by maintaining social distance from electricity infrastructure to avoid any unforeseen incidents.

The waterlogging situation and traffic disruptions are likely to continue throughout the day. Commuters are advised to stay informed about traffic conditions and plan their journeys accordingly. The Delhi Traffic Police’s official social media handles are providing updates on the situation.
