Delhi Capitals Pacer Rasikh Salam Dar Reprimanded for Code of Conduct Breach

Delhi Capitals pacer Rasikh Salam Dar was reprimanded on Thursday for breaching the Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct during the match against Gujarat Titans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Dar, who displayed a standout bowling performance on Wednesday, grabbing three crucial wickets in his four-over spell, was found to have committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.5 of the IPL Code of Conduct. The 24-year-old pacer has admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction handed down by the Match Referee.

In accordance with the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision in instances of Level 1 breaches is final and binding. Dar’s reprimand serves as a reminder to players of the importance of adhering to the established rules and regulations during IPL matches.

In the thrilling match between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans, the Titans won the toss and opted to field first. Despite a promising start from openers Jake Fraser McGurk and Prithvi Shaw, the Capitals were initially restricted to 44/3. However, a counterattack led by Axar Patel and Rishabh Pant propelled the team to a formidable total.

Pant’s explosive knock of 88* in 43 deliveries, including five fours and eight towering sixes, along with Tristan Stubbs’ late surge of 26* off 14 balls, proved too much for the Titans’ bowling attack. Delhi Capitals ultimately posted an impressive 224/4 in their allotted 20 overs.

In reply, Gujarat Titans lost their skipper Shubman Gill early. However, a 82-run partnership between Wriddhiman Saha and Sai Sudarshan kept them in the hunt. David Miller, Sai Kishore, and Rashid Khan also contributed valuable runs, but the Titans ultimately fell short of the target by four runs, finishing with a total of 220/8.

While Dar’s three wickets were vital for the Capitals’ victory, his reprimand for breaching the Code of Conduct underscores the league’s commitment to fair play and adherence to established protocols.
