The Delhi High Court is poised to conduct a hearing on Saturday regarding a plea filed against the wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Sunita Kejriwal, as well as other individuals. The plea alleges violations of the Delhi HC Video Conferencing Rules and seeks legal action against them.
The pleading specifically points to the unauthorized recording of proceedings from a trial court appearance by Delhi CM on March 28, 2024. Vaibhav Singh, a practicing lawyer who initiated the plea, contends that the defendants not only illicitly recorded the proceedings but also disseminated them across social media platforms.
The plea goes on to allege that the viral circulation of the audio/video recording was driven by a malicious conspiracy involving political parties aiming to erode the judiciary’s image and deceive the public about the institution’s alleged susceptibility to governmental pressure and influence.
As per the widespread recording, Arvind Kejriwal presented a 9-9:30 minute narrative of his account and relevant facts to the special judge. The plea further asserts that members of the Aam Aadmi Party and other opposition parties engaged in intentional audio-visual documentation of the court proceedings with the explicit intent to manipulate and discredit them before disseminating the recordings on social media platforms.
The Delhi High Court’s impending hearing on Saturday will adjudicate the merits of these allegations and determine whether the accused parties breached the Delhi HC Video Conferencing Rules and engaged in inappropriate conduct.
