Delhi Man Dies After Being Hit By Speeding BMW, Family Seeks Justice

A tragic incident in Delhi has left a family devastated and seeking justice. Sachchidanand Kumar, a resident of Sangam Vihar, lost his life after the autorickshaw he was traveling in with his family was struck by a speeding BMW car. The accident occurred on September 12 at Tilak Marg, according to a police FIR registered by Duty Officer Sub Inspector Banwari Lal.

Neeraj Kumar, Sachchidanand’s son, recounted the horrifying incident. He, his father, wife, and two sons were returning home from New Delhi Railway Station when a BMW car, allegedly running a red light, crashed into their autorickshaw. The impact was so severe that the autorickshaw overturned three times, leaving all passengers injured.

Neeraj’s father and younger son, Yashraj, sustained serious injuries, while Neeraj and his wife suffered injuries to their legs, back, and neck. A passerby quickly transported Sachchidanand and Yashraj to L.L.J.P. Hospital. Neeraj and his wife were taken to Lady Harding Hospital after the police arrived.

Despite receiving medical care, Sachchidanand’s condition remained critical, and he was moved to the ICU. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries after three days. The BMW driver, however, took advantage of the chaos and fled the scene. Neeraj stated, “We couldn’t chase him because our priority was getting treatment for the injuries.”

Neeraj, struggling financially, is appealing for justice and has urged authorities to take appropriate action against the driver and owner of the BMW. “I am financially very weak and unable to care for my family and father at this time. I will recognize the car driver if he comes in front of me. Hence, I sincerely request you to kindly take appropriate action against the said car driver and car owner.”

Following the death of Sachchidanand Kumar, the police have lodged an FIR in the case under relevant sections for road traffic accidents. This tragic incident highlights the dangers of reckless driving and the urgent need for stricter enforcement of traffic rules in Delhi.
