The Delhi Metro will be making an early start on Independence Day, August 15th, 2024, to facilitate the public’s attendance at the ceremony. Services will commence at 4:00 AM across all lines, operating from all terminal stations. Train services will run at a frequency of 15 minutes on all lines until 6:00 AM, after which the regular timetable will resume.
For those with bonafide Invitation Cards issued by the Ministry of Defence for the Independence Day ceremony, special entry and travel arrangements are in place. They will be permitted entry and travel upon presenting their valid government-issued photo identity cards at stations. These arrangements will be valid for exit only at Lal Quila, Jama Masjid, and Chandni Chowk Metro stations, the closest to the venue. The same Invitation Cards can also be used for the return journey from these three stations. Regular announcements will be made inside the trains to inform passengers about these arrangements. The cost of this special travel will be reimbursed to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) by the Ministry of Defence.
