Delhi Police Crack Down on Fake ID Syndicate Targeting Nepali Nationals

In a major crackdown on immigration fraud, the Delhi Police have successfully dismantled a fraudulent syndicate operating at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. The group was facilitating the illegal departure of Nepali nationals using counterfeit Indian documents, including Aadhaar and Voter ID cards. The arrest of key suspect Tabassum Alvi, along with two Nepali nationals, Dinesh Subba and Shyam Subba, marks a significant breakthrough in the investigation.

The syndicate’s operation centered around the forgery of Indian identity documents, which were used to help Nepali nationals travel abroad illegally. The deception was uncovered when Dinesh and Shyam Subba were detained by IGI Airport police while attempting to board a flight to Cambodia with fake Indian passports. Both individuals had entered India illegally and believed that their fraudulent documents would go unnoticed.

Further investigation revealed that Tabassum Alvi played a pivotal role in coordinating the syndicate’s activities, including arranging flights, securing visas, and facilitating the procurement of counterfeit documents. Reports suggest that Nepali nationals paid up to ₹10 lakh per person for these forged Indian identity documents, which included not only Aadhaar and Voter ID cards, but also fabricated passports.

The syndicate’s reach extended beyond India’s borders, with agents supplying Nepali nationals with fake Indian passports to help them travel internationally undetected. This sophisticated scheme exploited vulnerabilities in the immigration system, enabling illegal travel for a hefty fee.

The Delhi Police are continuing their investigation, aiming to uncover further members of the syndicate and trace the money trail associated with these fraudulent activities. The operation serves as a reminder of the critical need for enhanced border security and vigilance against growing immigration fraud networks.
