Delhi School Bomb Threat: 14-Year-Old Student Suspected, Recent Hoax Threats Across the City

Delhi Police have made a significant breakthrough in the recent bomb threat case involving Summer Fields School in Greater Kailash. A 14-year-old student has been identified as a suspect and is currently being questioned. According to police, the student, who reportedly did not want to attend school, sent the bomb threat email to avoid going. To make the threat seem genuine, the student mentioned two other schools in the email. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.

This incident is not isolated. Delhi-NCR has witnessed a surge in bomb threat incidents in recent months, many of which have turned out to be hoaxes. On August 2nd, an email threatening to bomb a school in the Greater Kailash area was received by the school authorities around midnight. The email claimed that an explosive device had been planted on the school premises.

On July 30th, the Somnath Express, running between Jammu and Rajasthan, faced a six-hour delay after an anonymous bomb threat was received by the police. The train was stopped at Kasu Begu railway station and passengers were evacuated. However, the threat was later confirmed to be a hoax.

On July 28th, a bomb threat was reported for a cluster bus at Nazafgarh More in outer Delhi, creating panic among residents. Delhi Fire Service (DFS) officials received a call alleging that a bomb was planted on a cluster bus operating on route number 961.

On July 20th, Kendriya Vidyalaya on the campus of IIT-Indore received an email threatening to ‘blow up’ the school building on Independence Day. The school authorities promptly filed a complaint with the Simrol police station.

In May 2024, numerous schools in Delhi-NCR received bomb threats via email, warning them of bombs on their premises. According to Indian Express, approximately 100 schools across Delhi and the National Capital Region received these threatening emails.

While the motives behind these threats vary, authorities are taking each incident seriously and conducting thorough investigations. The recent apprehension of a suspect in the Summer Fields School case highlights the importance of swift action in addressing these threats and ensuring the safety of students and the public.
