Delhi School Bomb Threat Hoax Follows Recent Rohini Blast; Kejriwal Blasts BJP

Panic gripped Venkateshwar Global School in Rohini, Delhi, on Friday morning when a bomb threat was received via email just hours after a low-intensity explosion rocked the neighborhood. The unsettling incident unfolded around 11:00 am, forcing the school to dismiss students early. A swift response by authorities saw the Delhi Police, bomb disposal squad, dog squad, and a Delhi Fire Services team converge on the school. A thorough search of the premises was conducted, ensuring the safety of all involved.

The threat, however, was later determined to be a hoax after the extensive search yielded no explosive devices. School authorities quickly reassured parents through a message, urging calm and instructing them to collect their children by 11:00 am. The school emphasized that the situation was ‘well under control.’ The proximity of Venkateshwar Global School to Thursday’s blast site – approximately one kilometer away – heightened anxieties. This latest incident follows a similar explosion at a CRPF school in the same area roughly 40 days prior, leaving one person injured and causing widespread fear among residents.

The back-to-back incidents and the perceived lack of effective crime prevention measures have triggered sharp criticism from Delhi’s Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal. In a scathing attack during the ongoing legislative assembly session, Kejriwal accused the BJP-led central government of failing to curb rising crime rates and protect its citizens. He highlighted the recent surge in violent incidents, stating, “Shootouts are happening openly on a daily basis. It feels like Delhi is run by gangs. Businesspeople live in fear of extortion calls, followed by violent attacks on their shops or showrooms.” The former CM directly implicated the BJP, suggesting that they are protecting notorious criminals such as Lawrence Bishnoi.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) concerning Thursday’s explosion near a cinema hall in Rohini. The investigation into both the blast and the subsequent bomb threat is ongoing. The events underscore growing concerns about safety and security in the Rohini area and the broader city of Delhi, prompting calls for increased law enforcement and stricter crime prevention strategies.
