A bribery racket involving three traffic policemen in Delhi was exposed after a CCTV video captured them allegedly taking bribes and dividing the money amongst themselves. The incident, reported from the Ghazipur area on Saturday, sparked outrage after the video went viral on social media.
The video shows one of the officers engaging in an argument with a man before accepting bribe money, which was placed on a table behind him. After the man leaves, the officer is seen counting the money and subsequently sharing it with his two colleagues.
Following the video’s dissemination, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena took immediate action. He announced the suspension of the three police personnel after a preliminary investigation. The accused officers are from the Kalyanpuri Police Circle.
A detailed departmental probe has been initiated to investigate the allegations of corruption and misconduct. This incident has once again brought to light the issue of bribery and extortion within law enforcement agencies, prompting calls for stricter action against corrupt officials.
