The war of words escalated after Atishi appealed to the BJP to cooperate in addressing the crisis. She urged the party’s governments in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh to provide additional water to Delhi until the monsoon arrives. However, LG Saxena countered by stating that the government was deflecting blame and that its failure to maintain and repair pipelines was the root cause of the water shortage. Saxena claimed that 54% of the water produced in Delhi goes unaccounted for and that the dilapidated pipelines lead to 40% wastage. He accused the AAP government of mismanaging the situation for the past 10 years and of covering up its failures with publicity stunts. In response, Atishi announced the formation of 200 enforcement teams to prevent water wastage. Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has remained silent on the issue.
