Delhi’s Outer North District to Face 18-Hour Water Cut Due to Maintenance Work

Get ready for a prolonged water outage in parts of Delhi’s Outer North district! The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has announced a complete water shutdown for 18 hours, starting Wednesday, October 16th, at 10 am, and lasting until 4 am on Thursday, October 17th. The reason? Essential maintenance work on the vital 1000 mm diameter Bawana water main, which supplies water from the Bawana Water Treatment Plant (WTP).

This shutdown will impact eight areas in the Outer North district, affecting a significant number of residents. The areas experiencing this water cut include Bawana Village and its surrounding colonies, Sultanpur Dabas Village, Pooth Khurd Village, Barwala Village, Majra Dabas Village, Chandpur Village, the territory under Ward 35 (Kanjhawala) and Ward 36 (Rani Khera), and their respective adjacent areas.

The DJB emphasizes the importance of these interconnection works on the Bawana water main for ensuring a smooth and reliable water supply in the future. However, this necessary maintenance comes at the cost of temporary inconvenience for residents in the affected areas.

To mitigate the impact of this prolonged water shutdown, the DJB has assured residents that water tankers will be available on demand. You can contact the DJB helpline or their central control room to request a tanker. Furthermore, the DJB strongly advises residents to store sufficient water in advance to meet their needs during the 18-hour period without water supply.

The DJB urges residents to use water judiciously during this time to ensure a smooth transition through the water cut and to minimize any potential inconvenience. This proactive measure reflects the DJB’s commitment to maintaining the city’s water infrastructure and ensuring a consistent water supply to Delhi residents.
