Retired U.S. Army veteran Chris Dziados secured the Democratic nomination in Pennsylvania’s 14th Congressional District, according to unofficial election results. Dziados received nearly 52% of the vote, while his opponent, Ken Bach, received 48%. The 43-year-old Dziados from South Strabane, Washington County, expressed confidence in his ability to represent the district, emphasizing the need for calm and collected leadership amidst the current political climate. He plans to focus his fall campaign on attracting independent and moderate Republican voters. While Bach initially declined to concede, citing incomplete election results, Dziados’ lead in Washington County and sustained support in the district’s other rural counties ultimately secured his victory.
The 14th Congressional District encompasses six counties in southwest Pennsylvania, with Washington and Westmoreland counties accounting for two-thirds of its registered voters. Despite Bach’s win in Westmoreland County, Dziados’ margin of victory in Washington County and support in the remaining four counties proved decisive. Dziados’ military service, including multiple deployments to Iraq and staff positions within the U.S. military, aligns with his pro-choice stance and support for the agenda set by President Joe Biden. He emphasizes the importance of border security, financial aid for Ukraine and Israel, and acknowledges the need to address his campaign’s financial deficit heading into the fall campaign.
