Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is gearing up for its busiest summer travel season ever. From Wednesday, July 3rd to Monday, July 8th, the airport expects to welcome approximately 1.5 million travelers, a significant 5.5 percent increase compared to the same period last year. This surge in passenger volume coincides with the Independence Day holiday rush, making for a bustling and dynamic week ahead.
DFW is encouraging passengers to be prepared and utilize their digital tools to plan ahead and ensure a smooth travel experience. Ken Buchanan, DFW’s Executive Vice President of Customer Experience and Revenue Management, states, “DFW is ready for the summer rush, and we are asking our customers to do their part to ensure a smooth travel experience by being a prepared traveler and using the many digital tools that we offer to plan ahead.” The DFW mobile app and website offer various features to simplify the travel process, including pre-booking parking, checking security screening wait times, and ordering grab-and-go food in the terminals.
The airport anticipates its busiest days to be July 6th, 7th, and 8th, with over 270,000 passengers expected each day. Top destinations for travelers this season include Cancun, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Denver, and New York City. To minimize delays and stress, DFW recommends arriving at least two hours before flight departure.
Parking in Terminals C and D tends to fill quickly. Travelers flying with American Airlines are advised to utilize Terminals A or B for parking, check-in, bag drop, and security to streamline their airport experience when Terminals C and D garages are full. All passengers can take advantage of the efficient Skylink train, seamlessly connecting all five terminals.
