The Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has announced the resumption of Metro Rail services in Dhaka, starting on Sunday, August 25th, 2024, with a revised schedule and safety measures in place. While the weekly closure on Fridays will remain, the service will operate daily throughout the week.
The DMTCL has made several significant changes to the Metro Rail schedule and ticketing system. Initially, the Mirpur-10 and Kazipara stations will remain out of service, and passengers are advised to consult the DMTCL’s official website and Facebook page for detailed travel instructions and updates.
To accommodate the revised schedule, only passengers holding MRT passes will be allowed to board the first two trains departing from Uttara Uttar Metro station at 7:10 am and 7:20 am. Similarly, only MRT pass holders will be granted access to the trains leaving Motijheel Metro Rail Station after 9:13 pm.
For passengers without MRT passes, single journey tickets will be available for purchase at Metro rail stations between 7:20 am and 8:50 pm. During this time, passengers can also purchase and top up their MRT passes. However, all ticketing offices and machines will cease operations after 8:50 pm.
In preparation for the resumption of services, the DMTCL has implemented several safety protocols to ensure a safe and smooth travel experience. Metro rail staff have undergone additional training to manage passenger flow and provide assistance as needed. Commuters are urged to follow all safety protocols, including wearing masks and maintaining social distancing while on board and at stations.
The DMTCL is committed to providing a reliable and efficient Metro Rail service, making commuting in Dhaka more convenient for all passengers. The company encourages commuters to stay informed about the updated schedule and safety guidelines through the DMTCL’s official channels.
