Mahendra Singh Dhoni, renowned for his tranquil demeanor, uncharacteristically lost his composure during the Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Tuesday evening. While observing the match’s progress from the team’s dressing room, Dhoni became visibly irritated as television cameras repeatedly zoomed in on him. Each time his image appeared on the big screen, the crowd erupted in excitement, as is customary. However, on this occasion, Dhoni expressed his annoyance by pretending to throw a water bottle at the cameraman. The footage clearly depicted Dhoni’s displeasure with the continuous camera focus.
Later, MSD entered the field to bat with only two deliveries remaining in the CSK innings, following the dismissal of Shivam Dube for 66 runs. It is noteworthy that in the previous day’s IPL match, LSG defeated CSK by six wickets. After winning the toss, LSG elected to bowl first against CSK. Batting first, CSK amassed 210 runs for the loss of four wickets. Ruturaj Gaikwad led the charge with an unbeaten century (108 runs), becoming the first captain to score over 100 in IPL 2024. Shivam Dube contributed 66 runs, while Ravindra Jadeja chipped in with 16. Matt Henry, Yash Thakur, and Mohsin Khan each claimed a wicket for LSG.
Chasing the target of 211 runs, LSG reached 213 runs for the loss of four wickets with three balls to spare. Marcus Stoinis led the way with an unbeaten 124 runs, while Nicholas Pooran and Deepak Hoda made 34 and 17 runs respectively. Matheesha Pathirana took two wickets for CSK, while Deepak Chahar and Mustafizur Rahman picked up one wicket each.
Today, the focus shifts to the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, where Gujarat Titans (GT) will face off against Delhi Capitals (DC). The match is scheduled to commence at 7.30 pm.
