A Department of Homeland Security official has been accused of promoting illegal immigration on social media platforms like YouTube and TikTok, sparking outrage and raising serious questions about the Biden administration’s immigration policies.
According to a report by the conservative organization, American Accountability Foundation, Wilson Osorio, an associate counsel with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) Office of the Chief Counsel, is alleged to have used his social media accounts to provide advice to border crossers, encouraging them to enter the United States illegally.
The report, obtained first by Fox News Digital, reveals that Osorio allegedly posted dozens of videos on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram, predominantly featuring conversations with illegal immigrants. In these videos, Osorio is said to have asked individuals to share their experiences, including how much money they make, their reasons for coming to the U.S., and their perceptions of living in the country illegally.
One video reportedly showcases an illegal immigrant who now owns a restaurant, illustrating a supposed “American Dream” achieved through illegal entry. Osorio’s alleged Instagram description for the video reads, “The American Dream is alive and well. This is the story of a Honduran immigrant who entered the United States illegally ~20 years ago. With hard work and dedication, he is now the owner of an expanding restaurant which brings in over $1 million in sales.”
Other videos purportedly feature similar narratives, emphasizing the financial benefits of illegal immigration. One video identifies a migrant earning $1,000 a week selling fruit, while another showcases an illegal immigrant sharing tips and advice for those seeking to cross the border illegally.
The report also includes videos highlighting the perceived benefits of illegal immigration, such as obtaining legal status through family ties or amnesty programs. One video is titled, “In 3 years my daughters and I already have papers in the USA,” where the woman in the video claims she crossed the border illegally but received protection from deportation due to her children and ultimately obtained a work permit. Another video depicts a person who claims to have received amnesty and is now a U.S. citizen, stating, “I got papers through amnesty, and now I am a citizen.”
Furthermore, some videos reportedly focus on the economic contributions of undocumented immigrants, particularly in the construction industry. One video reportedly advises illegal immigrants about their rights if they are owed money at work.
The report has drawn sharp criticism from Republican officials and conservative groups. American Accountability Foundation President Thomas Jones, in a statement, described Osorio as “personifying the plague of unelected radical leftist bureaucrats turning this country upside down.” Jones went on to say, “Even as he collects his taxpayer-funded salary, Osorio pushes his radical open borders agenda that is endangering the safety, stability and livelihoods of millions of Americans. It is an utter betrayal of the American people. He must be fired immediately.”
Senator Mike Lee, R-Utah, echoed these sentiments, calling Osorio’s actions a “severe breach of public trust” and directly linking them to the Biden administration’s immigration policies. Lee told Fox News Digital, “Unfortunately, this is unsurprising for the Biden-Harris administration and Mayorkas’ DHS, which has worked for four years to destroy America’s borders and invite illegal aliens, including thousands of violent criminals, to our shores.” Lee concluded, “Americans desperately need real leadership in the White House, the Department of Homeland Security and across the federal government.”
The Department of Homeland Security has declined to comment on the allegations against Osorio or his social media activity. The investigation into Osorio’s alleged actions is ongoing, and further developments are expected.
