Combs, who was denied bail and is currently in custody for federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges, was moved to Bankman-Fried’s unit on Monday. The MDC Brooklyn, known for housing high-profile prisoners, has not yet responded to inquiries about the arrangement.
Combs has been embroiled in a series of lawsuits alleging sexual misconduct, abuse, and sex trafficking. These accusations stem from allegations by his former girlfriend, Casandra Ventura. While Combs has denied these claims, investigations into his conduct have resulted in raids of his properties by federal authorities, including his Beverly Hills mansion, which he has since decided to sell.
On the other side of the cell block, Bankman-Fried has been incarcerated at MDC Brooklyn since last year. He is currently serving a 25-year sentence for fraud related to the collapse of his cryptocurrency exchange, FTX. He was convicted of misappropriating funds belonging to FTX customers, using the money for personal expenses, political contributions, and venture capital investments. The downfall of FTX triggered a significant downturn in the cryptocurrency market, known as the ‘crypto winter,’ driving Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to new lows.
Adding another layer to this saga, Bankman-Fried’s former accomplice and rumored love interest, Caroline Ellison, was recently sentenced to two years in prison by a Manhattan federal court.
